Le Tavolette di Santa Sofia, pg. 205

The volume, produced in co-edition in Russian, is dedicated to the "Tablets" of the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod, small icons painted on canvas whose peculiarity and uniqueness consists in being painted both on the front side and on the back side representing the Orthodox liturgical calendar in its festivals and commemorations of the saints.

Inside there is a summary of the history of the Tablets in English, as well as the captions are in Italian and English.

The Tablets are part of the prestigious collections of the Tretjakov Gallery in Moscow, the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg and the Museum of Novgorod La Grande.

The edition was presented at the Tretjakov Gallery in Moscow in May 2007 and at the Le Venezie Cultural Center in Treviso in November 2007.

The Author is G.I.Vzdornov, one of the most important scholars of the Russian Academy of iconography.
