Crosses in linden wood

Crosses in linden wood, with a whole table or (for larger sizes) joined with a comb junction by hydraulic press and arranged with the cord in the same direction (as in traditional canons). Smooth or with cradle, with aureole (nimbus) in relief or without. Wedges in the back in beech wood dovetail (to strengthen and to avoid the natural curvature of wood).

The crosses are sold in two versions: RAW (only wood) or WITH GESSO (with paint, canvas, polished plaster).

Normally we also include the treatment of wood (lateral and backside) with pinstriped crosses with anti-woodworm and anti-mold impregnation and walnut-colored paint.

The crosses are plastered according to the canons with glue lapin (of rabbit), cloth, plaster of Bologna and white Meudon or only Bologna (for pond painting, upon request plastering all Meudon). Plastering and sanding are carried out by hand with great care. The crosses are ready for painting and gilding. Some possible minor imperfections are due to manual work, we recommend smoothing the parts where it will be sheared with 800-1000 thin abrasive paper; mail the gold leaf.

I ordered several wooden boards to paint icons. Upon delivery, half of them showed scratches on the surface to be painted or saw marks on the side. The wooden boards are made without the care necessary for the production of works of art. Dal Molin has not had any hearing for my request for replacement of the unusable art supply nor for a refund saying that "these details have no importance". I do not recommend this business.

A company that is worth a visit for the wonderful and wide range of basic materials from shaped wooden boards, chalked, tools and colors: everything you need to create icons or pyrographic works. They have wonderful painted icons, books and also organize courses on the subject. Courteous, competent staff, generous with information and suggestions. Worth a visit.
