Top gilder's clay, SELHAMIN

The Selhamin bolus is considered one of the best, if not the best, among gilders.

Selhamin Poliment is a specially prepared and refined bole for priming surfaces for water-gilding. The best raw materials are combined in tried-and-tested proportions and then processed in traditional methods to make a premium product that serves to enhance the tone and lustre of gold applied over the top during the burnishing process.

This product is supplied as both a ready-mixed version (Poliment Wet) that is ready to use straight from the pot. Simply mix with high-quality rabbit skin glue and a little water to make a high-quality bole for application.

Once prepared this bole is applied to a surface that has been prepared using gesso, thus creating the best possible surface for a highly-burnishable water-gilded finish.
