Cracking paint 75 ml Maimeri
Cracking varnish:
it is a ready-to-use amber solution to be applied with a brush on surfaces previously treated with Aging Varnish to obtain the cracked or craquel effect.
1- Spread a thin layer of Aging Varnish which serves to facilitate the adhesion of the cracking varnish to the support. Before applying the cracking varnish, the solvent of the aging varnish must have evaporated completely (about 6 hours) and the paint film must be slightly sticky to the touch.
2- The cracking varnish must be applied with greasy brush strokes uniformly over the entire surface. If in the first brush strokes we notice that the varnish tends to form cracks, it means that the solvent of the aging varnish has not evaporated completely: it is therefore necessary to wait for complete evaporation.
3- The cracking varnish dries by evaporation of the water: if drying is rapid, large and marked cracks are obtained. If the drying is slow, the cracks will be thicker and finer. The size of the cracks is very much linked to the speed of evaporation of the water.
4- Once the cracking paint has dried, highlight the cracks obtained. If the background is brown or very dark, use a light color. If, however, the background is light colors, you can use bitumen or a dark brown pigment. Squeeze a little color onto a paper towel and dab it on all the cracks. Remove the excess color with a paper towel.
5- Finally, apply a layer of aging paint with full brush strokes, in order to create a protective film.
